Engineering giant signs lease in former Amazon building in Denny Triangle

Aug 25, 2025

Edmonton, Alberta-based engineering giant Stantec has signed a lease for space in a former Amazon office building in Seattle’s Denny Triangle.

The firm will occupy 10,900 square feet in Axis 9, previously known as the 1800 Ninth building. Owner Lake Washington Partners will have the ninth-floor space ready for the new tenant in the first quarter of 2026, LKWP CEO Jordan Lott told the Business Journal on Friday.

The move will consolidate Stantec’s presence in downtown Seattle, according to the firm.

“This transaction, this building and this space demonstrate Stantec’s commitment to sustainable design and efficiently consolidate our downtown offices into one central location,” Jennifer Linton, Stantec’s senior real estate manager, said in a news release.

The firm currently lists downtown locations at 600 Stewart St. (Plaza 600) and 720 Third Ave. (Pacific Building), though it isn’t clear how much office space it occupies at those locations. Stantec declined further comment.

The firm also lists local offices in Bellevue and Lynnwood.

Lake Washington Partners acquired the 18-story building through a deed in lieu of foreclosure in September last year before rebranding the property months later. The price was not disclosed.
